Formed in 2020, Scarlett Fever is a fresh and exciting band hailing from Crewe, Cheshire. The band was initially a trio, consisting of Harry on guitar, Tom on vocals, and Cal on drums. They first made their mark at Malbank High School, and their sound is a contemporary take on the mod sound of the late 70s.
Their music is not just about the sound, but also about storytelling. One of their songs follows the narrative of a man who is frustrated with a woman who can’t seem to make up her mind about him. The angst that this situation creates is palpable in the music, and the counter melody in the final chorus is a clever representation of the different sides of his brain trying to decide what to do with her.
Scarlett Fever played their first gig at the Haven Coffee Shop on North Street, Crewe. Their popularity exploded in and around Crewe after that performance, and they are now in their second year of playing gigs. The band has evolved with the addition of a new bassist, Marcus, who has significantly transformed the energy and style of the band.
They have started releasing music and have had the privilege of supporting bands like Rough Kutz and The Chords. They are also scheduled to support The Killermeters in February next year. As the three original members have gone to university, they are now gigging around the Manchester area and are open to more gig opportunities.
In addition to their Manchester gigs, they have also played at March of the Mods Chester and Redcar. Fans can look forward to their next single, ‘far away from you’, which is set to be released early next year.
Scarlett Fever is a band that has shown significant growth and potential in a short span of time. Their music is a refreshing blend of contemporary and mod sounds, and their storytelling through music is engaging. With their upcoming single ‘far away from you’ and more gigs in the pipeline, Scarlett Fever is a band to watch out for.
